Book 4: The Awakening

Wow. That is the only word that I can think of that properly describes this book. Wow. It picked up right where The Summoning left of and took us on an even better adventure than the first one. The characters grow a lot. In the last book I really disliked Tori and I really like Rae. But they switched parts in this book (even though the reason that they switched was 'the greater good', but as we all know the "The greatest harm can result from the best intentions." (Wizards second rule-Sword of truth series book two Stone of Tears by Terry Goodkind)). The best part of the book was the growing relationship between Derek and Chloe. Since I started working through the series Derek has been my favourite character (quiet and foreboding but kind at the same time) and this book only brings out more of his good qualities (and many of his bad ones). He really reminds me of one of my best friends, Dresden, who is very overprotective and snaps easily but is always looking out for his friends.

Unfortunately I rate this one slightly lower than the first one at an 8 talismans out of 10. The characters are lovely but it's turning into one of those new generic werewolf stories. I mean don't get me wrong its an excellent book but there's only so many ways to write an over build wolf into your story right?

But if you've read the first book defiantly read this one. It wont disappoint in the least.

Book 3:The Summoning

Woah! Two books? One day? Amazing!

The Summoning was probably the best book I've read since the summer. You don't really expect anything that happens (or at least I didn't) which truly makes this book a pleasure to read. Stylistically it's also very very very good. It flows really well and there isn't really any parts that seem to drag on.

I'm trying really had not to give out spoilers in this blog but this book is truly a roller coaster. It changes up fast and without warning and i would seriously reccomend it for whatever you're looking for.

I give it a 9 ruby necklaces out of 10

Book 2: Eternal

To be honest this book was a disappointment to me.

I have a bad habit of buying books based on cover art (I know, I know. Don't judge a book by it's cover. But be honest, we all do. If we didn't they wouldn't put pictures on the covers). When I saw the cover of this book with the wings on it I knew I would have to buy it. I have a thing for angel lore and it`s always been my dream to grow wings (I`m well aware that this is impossible. But I can still dream can`t I?). So I bought it and didn't read the back, which was the cause of my disappointment.

It had all the elements of a good angel story in the first two chapters. A guardian angel, a girl and love. It wasn't until the introduction of vampires (also referred to as 'eternals') that the book took a downward turn for me. I mean don't get me wrong vamps are cool, but i regret the fact that they have taken over the teen fiction section at chapters. There's only so many ways a mortal can fall in love with a vampire and over come all the challenges (one just fyi. every story is the same -.-. I miss the old vamps that were cruel and that high school girls were actually afraid of and didn't worship. One of the oldest nightmares i can remember was of being bit by a vampire and i can almost guarantee you that people wouldn't consider that a nightmare anymore.).

In the end it wasn't a horrible book. I would consider it a guilty pleasure. I've read much better books about vampires and better books about angels (A Madness of Angels by Kate Griffin for example).

I give it a six wings out of ten and would seriously recommend it if you wanted to start getting into lore or where just looking for an easy read.

Book 1: The Lightning Thief

Okay! This is going to be short because I don't feel like writing much. Sorry :(.

So basically my brother Marty LOVES these books and hes been trying to get me to read them for the past ever so we went to see the movie and I was like "this is amazing. LET ME BORROW THE BOOKS NOW" and he did and then i procrastinated at starting The Lightning Thief and now we're here. My Bestie Dresden said they were "too young for me" but I disagree. I thoroughly enjoyed the book. The characters were great, the plot line was interesting and theres not much more I can say about the book.

I give it a 8/10 for sheer enjoyment and the fact that it was easy to read.
You should read it.
No seriously...you should.
