Book 6: The Reckoning

So this is the last book in Kelley Armstrong's Darkest Powers trilogy. personally I think that it's a shame that there isn't going to be anymore in this series because as far as typical teen fic goes this series was excellent. They might have been some of the easiest books I've read and enjoyed (Twilight was easy to read. Far to easy (the language wasn't complicated) but it made me want to kill things and gets a rating of negative ten epic battles out of ten. If you've read Breaking Dawn you know what I refer to in epic battles (or in this case lack there of) SO disappointing).

****SPOILERS****

Anyways, I really enjoyed this book. The relationship between Chloe and Simon gets completely obliterated when Simon tries to kiss and she doesn't react the way he thinks she will. Things get messy people get hurt and in the end Chloe and Derek get together (which in my opinion is the better match). Unfortunately without all that relationship stuff the book wasn't really that great. It was pretty typical damsel in distress who end up saving the day sorta stuff and the ending was rather abrupt. I don't like the fact that this is only a trilogy because there is so much that can be done with the ending. They're on the run again and that's it

For the sheer lack of ending and overall disappointment the plot line offered I give this book a five necklaces out of ten. If you read the other books this one will not disappoint but I wouldn't read the series for this book. The second one was much better.

Quick apology!

Okay! first I have a quick apology to make to you all. I forgot to put images of the books noted in my last blog D: SORRRRRY

so i figured i do it in this one

Wizards First Rule:

Stone of Tears:

And Finally Blood of the Fold:

Okay so you might think that it's silly that I'd get worked up about this but if I make the book sound good I want to make it as easy for you to find as possible. I find it a lot easier to find a book if I know what the cover looks like. If you disagree that's cool. Sorry that i wasted your time

Please don't hate me? I'm sorry :(

Book 5: Blood of the Fold (and Wizard's First Rule and Stone of Tears)

so basically i can't write a decent review of this book without giving out tons of spoilers. Please stop reading now if you haven't read Wizards First Rule, Stone of Tears or Blood of the Fold because i really don't want to hear you complain when i give away the endings of the first two and the middle of the last one :)

****SPOILERS!**** (for Wizards first rule)

So! Wizards first rule was a great book for starts. Its all about Richard Cypher a woods guide living in the westlands. One day when he was patrolling around he saw Kalhan Amnell being bothered by some D'Haran soldiers and he stops them. She wants to be brought back to see the wizard Zeddicus Zu'l Zorander (Also known as Zedd) who is Richards Grandfather (he doesn't know that yet. So Richard brings Kalhan back to Zedd's but he's really confused because he doesn't know that Zedd is really a wizard yet so he's rather confused. While at Zedd's Richard gets sick because he got bitten by a queer plant while trying to save Kalhan and he almost dies. Zedd saves him. When he wakes up Zedd names him Seeker (a fancy term of the saviour of EVERYTHING) and send Richard and Kalhan off to Defeat the villain of our story Darken Rahl.

Back in D'Hara Lord Rahl is sacrificing little boys to get more magic. It was gross.

Eventually after much whining and stress Richard and Kalhan make it near D'Hara and Richard gets Captured by the Mord Sith (Women who serve Lord Rahl. They're captured when they're little girls to make them emotionless rocks that love Lord Rahl with all their hearts. They torture people for fun.) The Mord Sith break Richard and he becomes their slave and they take him to the People's Palace (where Lord Rahl resides) and they flaunt him around a little and Lord Rahl laughs at him a little.

Meanwhile Zedd found Kalhan and they have some special magical boxes that they're going to use to defeat Darken Rahl but they need to find Richard first.

Back at the People's Palace Richard has killed his Mord Sith trainer (her name was Denna just fyi) and escaped only to be caught by a dragon who he makes friend with and convinces her to help him find Zedd and Kalhan by promising to find her egg that Darken Rahl stole. Him and the dragon fly and find Zedd and Kalhan get the boxes and fly off again to go defeat Darken Rahl. Using his magic (bet you didn't see that coming. Richards a wizard too) he defeats his father (yea, that's right. FATHER) Darken Rahl (at some point you find out that Darken Rahl raped Richards mother who was Zedd's daughter). In this defeat he makes a rip in the underworld. Zedd and Kalhan turn up, find the dragons egg and return it to the dragon who flies Richard and Kalhan back to the mud people where they have a party. While partying he's procrastinating about finding the Stone of Tears

This one was very very very typical fantasy. Especially with the dragon thrown in there. In fact i have a friend who refuses to read it just because of this. After you get past the horrid blood magic and the Torturing this book was amazing and I'd highly recommend it to EVERYONE. I give it an eight out of ten

****SPOILERS!**** (Stone of Tears)

This starts out with Richard and Kalhan chilling with the Mud People. Then the Sisters of the Light come (ahhh! okay so the Sisters are a religious organization who serve the creator and abuse little boys with the gift). they kidnap Richard and take him back to the old world. on the way he kills some gars and finds a little one and doesn't have the heart to kill it so he names it Gratch and feeds it (note: Gratch is Richard's friend, not his pet). Finally they make it to the Prophets Palace and Richard begins his training. He almost gets his han stolen by a Sister of the Dark (they serve the Keeper instead of the creator) and the Sisters of the Light try to keep him in the palace because they believe he's going to give the Stone of Tears to the Keeper and let him reign over the world of the living.

Meanwhile Kalhan finds Zedd and they start freaking out over the Sisters of the Light taking Richard because they're evil.

Back in the old world Richard escapes and travels through the desert between the two worlds, find a tower and destroys it. Then he finds the stone of tears, emerges on the other side to find Zedd and Kalhan. They seal the rift to the underworld and go to chill at the Wizard's Keep.

So i liked this book better than the first one. The first one had a bigger lull in the middle and this one went a little faster. I give it a nine out of ten it wont disappoint

****SPOILERS!**** (For the book this blog is actually about)

So! Finally! The Blood of the fold! this isn't going to have as many spoilers in it

basically Richard has been collecting rules

Wizard's First Rule: People are stupid

Wizard's Second Rule: The greatest harm can result from the best intentions

and in this one he learns Wizard's Third Rule: Passion rules reason from some old dead guys journal that him and a Mord Sith Translate (he claimed the title Lord Rahl and made all of the midlands surrender to him. just in case you're wondering why he's hanging around with some Mord Sith)

Richard screws up then he fixes everything and the book ends

This book is even better than the last (if you can believe that) it was even more fast pace and its getting a perfect rating of ten out of ten. Terry Goodkind I applaud you.
