Book 29: Mocking Jay

At the beginning of the school year all my friends were raving about this book. They all said they loved it but they didn't end the way they thought it would. They were wrong.

For some strange reason they didn't think the characters hocked up right even though it was obvious from the start. I guess they thought that Katniss would end up with Gale like the beginning of the series would have suggested. When someone goes through a great trauma they can't be with someone who doesn't understand their pain because if you can't understand their pain you can't understand them. That fact alone made Katniss and Gale impossible. For a while I thought it might be Katniss and Finnick but that too became impossible when he married his life long love Annie.

So really, the ending was predicable. The whole series was predicable and gave me that gut wrenching feeling of lonely that I try so hard to avoid.  The final book in the series gets a 7 parachutes out of 10 from me. It was good and depressing. Killer combo. Excuse me while I go drown my sorrows in Ink Heart and Chocolate.

Book 28: Catching Fire

All I do over Christmas break is read, read, and read some more while devouring as much chocolate as one stomach can hold. Two books, one day. We're off to a good start.

Similarly to The Hunger Games I don't have a whole lot to say about this book mainly because it's too good to spoil for anyone. I didn't like it as much as its predecessor but it was still up there in the books that I've read recently. I found it more dark and depressing and draining to read in my 3 hour sitting. It was hard to focus on and made me feel really alone in the world which doesn't happen to much when I read. Normally books make me feel loved unless they betray me and the weird thing is this one didn't leave me with that sour taste of betrayal in my mouth that I thought it would. Like the majority of books that you read it was very predicable. I mean really, how are you going to keep reader when you publish something radical. People find it hard to follow and don't like going outside their comfort zones.

Very little of what I've said has anything to do with the book but that's alright for tonight. I give this book a 5.5 islands out of 10. I guess there's just something about the number five today. Anyways, I hear the next book resolves the series from my friends who keep raving about them so don't let whatever I said deter you from reading this book. It's good, just not great. If you start the series finish it otherwise there's no point in starting it in the first place.

Book 27: Sophie's World: A Novel About The History of Philosophy

My English teacher lent me this book the same day she gave me Lures to read. She had a feeling that I would find Lures good but I would need something else to occupy my time with I suppose. I finished the book (after three months of procrastinating) today and I must say it was lovely.

Next year I hope to take foundation year (FYP) at The University of Kings College. FYP tracks the changes in western thought through out the ages, basically it's Sophie's world with more discussion and with a couple hundred other people sitting next to you completely enthralled with what's going on in the world and how it's all connected.

Sophie's world, as the title suggests, is a novel about the history of philosophy. You learn about Socrates, Plato, Darwin, Marx and everyone in between. The subject was very interesting and thought provoking but the book was dry.

I really enjoyed it but at times it seemed very tedious to get through. Halfway through the book you find out the first half of the book is in a book and it is difficult to wrap your head around what's going on all the time and you receive the story second hand from another character. Because of this I would only rate this book 5 ringed binders out of 10. It's a good read if you're interested in the topic but if not then you might want to stay away from this book.

Book 26: The Hunger Games

Hello my ravenous reading friends. Over the last 24 hour I have convinced myself that most, if not all of you have already read this book and have fallen in love with it. How can you not? the characters are lovable, the plot moves fast and it's near impossible to put down because the end of every chapter is a cliff hanger.

I first heard of this book from one of my best friends Erin. She was all "THIS BOOK IS SO GOOD!" for about a week. This was back when everyone loved vampire books. I admit, I've read my fair share of said books but I really didn't want to read another one and without another thought I wrote pop culture all over the book in my head and avoided it like the plague. That was 4 years ago. I'm friends with another girl coincidentally named Arrin from my parents church. She works at Coles, a smaller book store that's owned by Indigo. We trade books a lot because we both read a decent amount, she more than I because it's part of her job to read. A while ago we were talking and she asked me if I read the Hunger Games and I said no. The next week she had all three books with her and there was no way I could say no. On Sunday I started reading the Hunger Games and I could not put it down (that is until Amanda came over and we made hot cocoa and a fire and chilled for a bit). I ended staying up way later than I really wanted to to finish it. I was very impressed.

Unlike my mislead impression of the book it was not about vampire but rather a society not so dissimilar to ours that is organized better. Going through the book I couldn't help but think that I've read it before. It's very similar to The Heir Trilogy by Cinda Williams Chima (which where excellent) and another series that I've read recently whose name slips my mind.

Although I haven't really said much about the book other than it's amazing I think I'm going to leave it like this in case you're like me and haven't yet read it. I don't want to ruin it for you. I give this book ten backpacks out of ten. First full rating ever. This book is more amazing than I have said it is. I could not possible do it justice. If it's not already on your to read list, read list or sitting on your shelf right now you need to read this book. It will not disappoint you in the least.

Book 25: Leviathan

Scott Westerfeld is one of my favourite authors. I read almost all his books and I've loved each and everyone of them. He is a brilliant man and I envy the diversity in his writing.

Leviathan is an alternative history of World War One in a Darwinist society. I was really looking forward to finally sinking my teeth into this book but I've been so caught up in my reading for English lately that I've had to put it on the back burner. Yesterday I was exhausted and I felt like reading. Hush Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick and Leviathan were beside my bed and I thought Hush Hush was on top and it would make for a nice read. incidentally Hush Hush was not on top and I was far too lazy to reach down and change books and started Leviathan saving Hush Hush for another day.

Like the rest of Scott's books that I've read it sucked me in right away and it was near impossible to put down (evident by the how long it took me to read it.). Unfortunately, I found it rather dry at times. But not the type of dry that makes you say "ugh this book is boring" the type of dry that's suspenciful and makes you read faster.

This is not Scott's best book. I give it  8 eggs out of 10. If it was anyone else it would have gotten a worse rating but I love Scott Westerfeld more than life. If you like his work or the first world war you'll defiantly find this book interesting.

Book 24: The Amber Spyglass

The Amber Spyglass was a good ending to a series. It summed everything up and left one question still to haunt you but not the kind that tears you apart, like the questions at the end of Lures. I found it very enjoyable though it was dry at times.

As most ending books it was very very dark. Will and Lyra traveled to the world of the dead and on their return to the living almost died. They were hunted by any manner of horrible people and things and it really made you question whether or not this book could have a "happy" ending. The other day when I was waiting for The Prince's (The student run newspaper at my school) to start our teach coorinator was talking about A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini and how books need to end on an up beat. We really don`t want to believe that there's no hope in the world so we write books with hopeful endings and The Amber Spyglass lived up to this expectation very well.

I give this book 6 marzipan's out of 10. You can't really leave off on The Subtle Knife so you really need to read it but it wasn't the best book ever. It was an ending. If you read the first one finish the series and don't let the ending stop you from reading the beginning. Read this series. It's worth the time

Book 23: Lures: A Novel

Unfortunately, due to English class, my reading has been set back. This is an odd statement to make seeing as though English is suppose to promote reading but because I dislike the class so much I've been put off reading until we had to do a book report. Lures was one of the books that we could read and it sounded the most interesting. My teacher also gave me Sophie`s World by Jostein Gaarder because she thought I would enjoy it, but I digress.

Lures was a wonderful and disturbing book. It`s about too English family`s living in Quebec  and their troubles. It was a very very tragic story and left me with knots in my stomach and tear streaks on my face countless times. The main character, who ties both family's together, is Grace. Grace is in the middle of everything and it's messing her up big time. She doesn't know who she is and she's very lost. Stuff goes down, she finds a guy who's nice to her and the story resolves. I wasn't a huge fan of the ending of the book because it left a lot of questions and it didn't really feel like it was over. It was kind of disappointing but good none the less.

I give this book 7 ice cream cones out of 10. If it had a better ending then it would have been a 10 but whatever. You should defiantly read this book. You won't regret it.

Book 22: The Subtle Knife

Ahh the middle book. so much said, so much explained and so much left on strings. I have never been a huge fan of the middle book. The writing is almost always phenomenal but the story always drags and I always feel like I'm in a rush to finish it so I can get to the end of our hero's epic journey.

The Subtle Knife was an excellent middle book as far as middle books go. It was dry through the middle and slightly dull until the last 40 or 50 pages but those few pages made the whole book worth reading. We follow Lyra into a new world where she makes new friends and find out how all of the worlds are linked. You discover the reason why the church would really want this series banned and what title the witches gave her.

All in all it was a wonderful book and if you've read the Golden Compass you should definitely continue on with you literature prowl and pick up this book as well, be it at your local library or book buying establishment. I give this book a seven hot air balloons out of ten. Don't pass this one by.

Book 21: The Golden Compass.

So, this semester I'm in English which you would think is great, right? Wrong. Last year when I started my blogs I was in English and I hated it. My class was slow and didn't understand simple ideas and it drove me insane. I didn't think it was possible to have a worse class than that. Leave it to lovely PA to prove me wrong and put me into the worst English class I have ever experienced.

As a project we had to research some stuff about censorship and we were given a list of books that we could choose one from to read and further explore the topic in further depth. Then we were told to take notes on the book and that just didn't fly. I never take notes on books, ever. So me and my teacher are at the point where I dislike her and will not be cooperative in that class at all.

Though I read The Golden Compass because it was forced upon me, I really enjoyed the book, but not as much as I should have. The plot was really good and the characters were amazing and very well written. I don't have a lot to say about the book because I was in "gotta get this book done because I'm on a deadline" mode while thinking "why would people want this book banned?" so anything that I say will be unfortunate and shouldn't be heard.

I give the book a 6 out of 10 bears. I really should have something higher but my class prevented me from enjoying it. You should read it and tell me your ratings or tell me your ratings if you've already read it. It would make me feel better about how I wasted the book.

Book 20: Pillars of Creation

It's taken me six months but I finally did it. I've read 20 books. I don't know weather that's good or bad. It's a little over two books a month if you average it out (3.33 books to be precise) but I could do better. What do you think? Is that a good number? Or should I try harder?

Anyways, Pillars of creation was not that great. The story line was a little confusing and at points made me feel physically sick. Richard and kahlan didn't even appear in the novel until the last 60 pages. Because I'm so disgusted by this book this is all the review that I'm giving it. Wizards seventh rule can be found on page 716 if you want to read it or whatever.

I give this book a 3.5 guilded statues out of 10. I actually didn't like the book and that doesn't happen a lot. Be cautioned about reading this book, hopefully the next book will make it worth it.

Book 19: Faith of the Fallen

You may have noticed this is my second post today. How can I read two 780 some paged books so fast? I had a while to do it. For most of what I did you can look at this handy dandy link. I'll make it better when I've had some more sleep (In meaning I'll get the picture links working and tell the stories better.)

This might be my favourite book in the series thus far. It was not the best plot wise but the subject matter it dealt with was extraordinary. Richard and Kalhan got separated and have to fight against The Imperial Order separately and in different ways. Kalhan faced The Order head on in fierce battles, whereas; Richard lives in the heart of it and makes the people choose freedom. Again we don't have the pleasure of finding Wizard's Sixth Rule "The only sovereign you can allow to rule you is reason" (Page 460). Instead Zedd states that Richard must have discovered it when he made the D'Haran Empire. Zedd also says that Wizard's Sixth Rule is the most important and is proud of Richard for finding it out in his own.

Like the last book the plot has many twists and will not let you down. I give it 9.75 tubs or Lardo out of 10. Read this series. Please. You won't regret it.

Book 18: Soul of the Fire.

So it's been a while my lovelys and I'm sorry. Soul of the Fire was a rather long book and I've been quite busy. With what? link.

Soul of the fire was an absolutely brilliant book that I hated for the first 400 pages (I always finish my books no matter how bad or how much I hate them). Unlike all of the other books in The Sword of Truth series instead of following Richard and Kahlans journey it focuses on a corrupt nation in the midlands called Anderith. Also, instead of having Richard discover Wizards Fifth rule "Mind what people do not only what they say for deeds will betray a lie" (page 309) as he does in all the other books but rather he simply quotes it from Kolos Journal.

If Terry Goodkind wasn't as good as weaving stories I would say this book is a bust, but the way he ties everything together in the end was pure art. The twists he wove into it made the book most enjoyable to read because just when you thought you had the ending figured out it changed dramatically.

I give this book a seven scalps out of ten. If you're on the fence about reading this book you defs should because the next one is even better.

Book 17: The Sea of Monsters.

So I borrowed this book from my brother months ago...by months ago I mean it's been sitting in my room since around April 6th or something like that, but I finally read it and it wasn't horrible. In fact it was quite good.

This book picks up 9 months after The Lightening Thief ended. Percy is doing his final exams in his new aged school (It's pretty funny. I got a real kick out of the teachers) when surprise surprise he gets attacked by monsters. Who can guess what happens next?

If you guessed quest you're 100% right. Off to the sea of monsters we go. If you don't know what the sea of monsters is brush up on your Greek mythology or just read this lovely book. Or you know...both. That would work wonderfully.

Like it's predecessor I give this book an eight wedding dresses out of ten. It was a great book but it has more to offer. If you read The Lightening Thief defs read this one too. It's an excellent continuation of the story.

Book 16: Briar's Book

It saddens me that this lovely series has to come to an end and I do not have the funds to purchase the next series so I can finish the adventures of these fine young people. But I digress.

This book, like all the other books in this phenomenal series, is amazing. I've always had an interest in medicine and infectious diseases. In grade 5 I did a project of veterinarians and 5 of my 20 pages of research was done on heart and tape worms because in all honesty I found them far more interesting than what vets did with their day. Tamora Pierce did an excellent job at capturing the fear and frustration that would have been experienced during period that the books are set in and brings out important points about how the deaths are caused from illnesses that act like small pox and the measles. At one point it says "It's not the pox that kills them, it's the fever" and being sick with one currently I agree. When you have a fever you get dehydrated really easily and if you don't keep drinking then you get weaker and your body can't fight off infection or do anything seeing that your body is roughly 57% water.

The pandemic tries all four of the young mages but especially Briar who gets stuck in quarantine and then helping to find the cure with his plant magic. It gets rather dark around the end but it always works out right?

This book is amazing. I give it a 10 strips of bacon out of 10. This is one series you shouldn't miss out on.

(I could actually find a good picture for this one :D win!)

Book 15: Daja's Book

You might notice a trend of me telling a story of whatever I was doing while reading when I do my reviews. I get distracted easily. Today's is about my friend Dresden. He likes to read the same way I do but he never finds the time because he's too busy not reading and now he's on a quest to manage his time better to read more. Have any advice for him? I'd love to pass it on.

Down to business. Daja's book is probably my favourite book in the series, mostly because I really like fire and that's what Daja's magic deals with. The group is traveling around the country side with Sandry's Great Uncle and they stop in a town that's having some trouble with grass fires to see what the Duke can do to help out even though his bank account have been nearly whipped out by the earthquake and the pirate attacks. The group makes more mistakes and learn a lot from everything that goes on and they grow more as people, or characters if you don't think they're real.

As I've said this is my favourite book from the series which means it's going to get a higher ranking than the last one that only got a eight out of ten (that's higher than I remember. I looked it up and everything.). I give this book a nine and a half rods of iron out of ten. This series is truly remarkable and Tamora Pierce does an excellent job in creating this new world. If you haven't already read any of these books I seriously recommend that you do.

Book 14: Betrayls

This book has been ruined by my loving mother. I finished it today while we were at the beach and put it back in the beach bag and my mother put a wet towel on top of it. Right now it is resting under a stack of things to try to prevent the pages from turning to crinkly. I have little hope.

Regardless of my copy being ruined it was a great book. I didn't get the first four or five chapters because it's been a year since I read Strange Angels, the first book in the series. If you do read the Strange Angel novels by Lili St. Crow try to read them consecutively. It becomes very hard to remember what words mean what when you haven't read it in a while.

Like most books in the young adult section of your friendly neighborhood chapters it's about vampires and werewolves and what Lili St. Crow calls the "Real World". Strange Angel, unlike most novels of it's kind, was not really a love story. It focused more on getting out alive and fighting off monsters. Unfortunately I didn't luck out with Betrayals. Half way through the book love triangles started to form and it was immensely frustrating and made the story line a little messy. Nearer the end she starts to doubt one of her romantic interests but then they made things difficult by saying something along the lines of "you're the reason I live"

Dru, the main character, is a very round character even though I doubted her sanity through most of the novel. She is deeply scared by her past and has abandonment issues which become more and more prevalent as the book goes on. She's a loner and she's really awkward so I find it really easy to connect with her because most of the time I am a loner and I'm always awkward.

Due to the fact that this book has a love triangle in it I'm going to have to give it a 7 locks of hair out of 10. The triangle was constructed very nicely, I just hate them. But overall it was a good book.

Book 13: Tris's Book.

Ten points if you can guess what it's about! Naw just kidding that would take to long and no one would answer. Sorry guys but it's true.

So this book is the second book in the Circle of Magic quartet. Woo! Exciting stuff right? no? sorry.

I don't like the second book as much as the first. Those of you who might have read these books and know of my undying love for pirates and magic might wonder why because this book certainly combines both of my obsessions very nicely, but there you would be wrong. I like being a pirate with magic powers not seeing magic get used against them. It was a great book none the less. Tris, Sandry, Brair and Daja all grow in this book a lot and are learning self control, which as we all know is very important whether you're a mage or not. There isn't any major disasters in this book and the beginning is rather slow but when it gets close to the end you can barely put it down.

As you've gathered this isn't one of my favourite books ever so you might assume that the rating will not be a repeat of yesterdays ten out of ten and you would be correct on this assumption. I'm giving it an eight lightening bolts out of tens. The first book was a hard act to follow and this book could have done a better job. This doesn't mean you shouldn't read it. You should. You'll be amazed. Promise.

Book 12: Sandry's Book

Yet again I am long overdue with this blog even though I have just finished this book. I've been very uninspired when it comes to reading as of late. There seems to be so much to do. By that I mean CSI is on from 12 til 4 and that's all I do. Yesterday I went to chapters and spent 32 something on books. I know I don't need them but it's Tamora Pierce and I haven't read these books in several years so I felt that the splurge would be acceptable.

Sandry's book is the first book in the Circle of Magic quartet by Tamora Pierce. It follows the beginning of the lives of Sandry, Tris, Daja and Brair, four young mages who are learning to use their powers. The Circle Opens quartet is the follow up on their adventures and The Will of the Empress is the book that ties up any lose ends in the series.

These books are very hard for me to blog about because I've already read them once so i know everything that happens in the long run of the series and I don't want to give anything away and if I keep talking I surly will.

Tamora Pierce is an excellent author. The words appear to flow off the page and the visual she creates to this day remains unparalleled in my mind. Sandry's Book is even better than I remembered and I do not regret this purchase in any way. I give it a 10 drop spindles out of 10 and a recommendation of the highest order. Seriously, read this book.

Book 11: Going Bovine

Wow. This is by far the craziest book I have ever read. Not crazy in a bad way crazy in a I-can't-believe-I-actually-got-my-head-around-that-story-and-I-have-no-idea-how-I'm-ever-going-to-tell-people-about-it-without-giving-everything-away sort of crazy. I hope you got that hint that I dropped that this is going to be very short and sweet.

This book is about Cameron Smith. Average high school student who hangs with stoners. He gets mad cow. Then the story gets crazy and there's a whole bunch of plot twist and you kinda wanna ask questions but not really because if you do then everything will be ruined.

I have to give this book a ten yard gnomes out of ten. It was excellent. I've always loved Libba Brays writing (her Gemma Doyle trilogy was absolutely amazing and if you haven't read it yet you're missing out on a lot my friend) but this book has gone above and beyond my expectations. Congrats Libba. You've blown my mind and that's not easy to do.

Seriously, next time you're at a book store go to the vampire romance novel section (formally known as the young adult section) find Libba Brays books AND BUY THEM ALL. But especially Going Bovine. You'll love it I promise.

*if you care to notice this review was done in orange, my favourite colour. guess tat means this book must be better than every single other book I've ever reviewed EVER. seriously. read it.

Book 10: Hush: An Irish Princess' Tale

Finally. Ten books. I've been very slacked this year with my reading, much despite this blog helping me along. I should let you know that I'm reading 5 books right now so there should be more blogs later on this week (pretend it's Sunday please :])

Hush was an extraordinary book and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It's about an Irish Princess who gets caught by slave traders and become the slave of an Icelandic Viking. I found it to be a very depressing story but, as always, everything worked out in the end.

I would definitely recommend this book and I give it a nine gold teething rings out of ten. It's a lovely story and it will not disappoint.

Book 9: Temple of the Winds

Temple of the Winds was extremely prophecy oriented. The Dream Walker is at large, everyone is split up and horrible things are happening through out both the old and new worlds. Richard and Kahlans love gets tested once again, people get jealous and people get betrayed. This book is jammed pack with excitement, dismay, darkness and sunshine and it might have been the most exciting book in the series as of yet.

Though it was great and exciting it was not my favourite. I found the plot to be overly dark at some point and very very frustrating. Things weren't going the way I thought they should and I kept on being thrown through loops.

As always Terry Goodkind does not disappoint. I give it six agiels out of ten just for the fact that it was so dark throughout the whole novel. If you've started reading the series definitely continue. You will not want to miss out on this phenomenal book.

Book 8: The Lost Symbol

I am a big fan of Dan Brown's writing. A lot of the other mysteries I've read that have had psychopath killers intertwined with conspiracy theories and myths have either been far to much (Like The Book of the Dead by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child) or greatly lacking in substance. Dan Brown does not disappoint in this novel, though it is not my favourite by far (My favourite would be Digital Fortress. It was my sort of story).

What can I say about The Lost Symbol? As always it goes in depth into history, architecture and science. This book focuses on the Freemasons, how they've shaped America and their hidden secrets.

I found the chemistry between Robert Langdon and the female lead in this book to be lacking where in all his other books its quite apparent about how women feel about him. This was slightly disappointing for me because, unfortunately, I am a hopeless romantic.

This review isn't going to well so I'm going to cut it off here. I would give this lovely book five and a half pyramids out of ten. No real reason behind the low rating other than I didn't enjoy the book as much as I thought I would, but if you like Dan Browns writing you should defiantly read it.

Book 7: The Book of Awesome.

There is only one word to describe this book. Awesome.

every page is filled with a story of something awesome that can happen to you during the day, whether it be paying with exact change, the smell of the coffee isle or even getting grass stains. It offers a quirky outlook on daily events and really picks you up if you're not in the best mood.
I didn't enjoy the ending much. It wasn't as awesome as I had hoped it to be but the rest of the book was exquist.

I highly recommend it if you're looking for something fun to read on a weekend out of town or even just when you're down. (nine point seven five out of ten)

Book 6: The Reckoning

So this is the last book in Kelley Armstrong's Darkest Powers trilogy. personally I think that it's a shame that there isn't going to be anymore in this series because as far as typical teen fic goes this series was excellent. They might have been some of the easiest books I've read and enjoyed (Twilight was easy to read. Far to easy (the language wasn't complicated) but it made me want to kill things and gets a rating of negative ten epic battles out of ten. If you've read Breaking Dawn you know what I refer to in epic battles (or in this case lack there of) SO disappointing).

****SPOILERS****

Anyways, I really enjoyed this book. The relationship between Chloe and Simon gets completely obliterated when Simon tries to kiss and she doesn't react the way he thinks she will. Things get messy people get hurt and in the end Chloe and Derek get together (which in my opinion is the better match). Unfortunately without all that relationship stuff the book wasn't really that great. It was pretty typical damsel in distress who end up saving the day sorta stuff and the ending was rather abrupt. I don't like the fact that this is only a trilogy because there is so much that can be done with the ending. They're on the run again and that's it

For the sheer lack of ending and overall disappointment the plot line offered I give this book a five necklaces out of ten. If you read the other books this one will not disappoint but I wouldn't read the series for this book. The second one was much better.

Quick apology!

Okay! first I have a quick apology to make to you all. I forgot to put images of the books noted in my last blog D: SORRRRRY

so i figured i do it in this one

Wizards First Rule:

Stone of Tears:

And Finally Blood of the Fold:

Okay so you might think that it's silly that I'd get worked up about this but if I make the book sound good I want to make it as easy for you to find as possible. I find it a lot easier to find a book if I know what the cover looks like. If you disagree that's cool. Sorry that i wasted your time

Please don't hate me? I'm sorry :(

Book 5: Blood of the Fold (and Wizard's First Rule and Stone of Tears)

so basically i can't write a decent review of this book without giving out tons of spoilers. Please stop reading now if you haven't read Wizards First Rule, Stone of Tears or Blood of the Fold because i really don't want to hear you complain when i give away the endings of the first two and the middle of the last one :)

****SPOILERS!**** (for Wizards first rule)

So! Wizards first rule was a great book for starts. Its all about Richard Cypher a woods guide living in the westlands. One day when he was patrolling around he saw Kalhan Amnell being bothered by some D'Haran soldiers and he stops them. She wants to be brought back to see the wizard Zeddicus Zu'l Zorander (Also known as Zedd) who is Richards Grandfather (he doesn't know that yet. So Richard brings Kalhan back to Zedd's but he's really confused because he doesn't know that Zedd is really a wizard yet so he's rather confused. While at Zedd's Richard gets sick because he got bitten by a queer plant while trying to save Kalhan and he almost dies. Zedd saves him. When he wakes up Zedd names him Seeker (a fancy term of the saviour of EVERYTHING) and send Richard and Kalhan off to Defeat the villain of our story Darken Rahl.

Back in D'Hara Lord Rahl is sacrificing little boys to get more magic. It was gross.

Eventually after much whining and stress Richard and Kalhan make it near D'Hara and Richard gets Captured by the Mord Sith (Women who serve Lord Rahl. They're captured when they're little girls to make them emotionless rocks that love Lord Rahl with all their hearts. They torture people for fun.) The Mord Sith break Richard and he becomes their slave and they take him to the People's Palace (where Lord Rahl resides) and they flaunt him around a little and Lord Rahl laughs at him a little.

Meanwhile Zedd found Kalhan and they have some special magical boxes that they're going to use to defeat Darken Rahl but they need to find Richard first.

Back at the People's Palace Richard has killed his Mord Sith trainer (her name was Denna just fyi) and escaped only to be caught by a dragon who he makes friend with and convinces her to help him find Zedd and Kalhan by promising to find her egg that Darken Rahl stole. Him and the dragon fly and find Zedd and Kalhan get the boxes and fly off again to go defeat Darken Rahl. Using his magic (bet you didn't see that coming. Richards a wizard too) he defeats his father (yea, that's right. FATHER) Darken Rahl (at some point you find out that Darken Rahl raped Richards mother who was Zedd's daughter). In this defeat he makes a rip in the underworld. Zedd and Kalhan turn up, find the dragons egg and return it to the dragon who flies Richard and Kalhan back to the mud people where they have a party. While partying he's procrastinating about finding the Stone of Tears

This one was very very very typical fantasy. Especially with the dragon thrown in there. In fact i have a friend who refuses to read it just because of this. After you get past the horrid blood magic and the Torturing this book was amazing and I'd highly recommend it to EVERYONE. I give it an eight out of ten

****SPOILERS!**** (Stone of Tears)

This starts out with Richard and Kalhan chilling with the Mud People. Then the Sisters of the Light come (ahhh! okay so the Sisters are a religious organization who serve the creator and abuse little boys with the gift). they kidnap Richard and take him back to the old world. on the way he kills some gars and finds a little one and doesn't have the heart to kill it so he names it Gratch and feeds it (note: Gratch is Richard's friend, not his pet). Finally they make it to the Prophets Palace and Richard begins his training. He almost gets his han stolen by a Sister of the Dark (they serve the Keeper instead of the creator) and the Sisters of the Light try to keep him in the palace because they believe he's going to give the Stone of Tears to the Keeper and let him reign over the world of the living.

Meanwhile Kalhan finds Zedd and they start freaking out over the Sisters of the Light taking Richard because they're evil.

Back in the old world Richard escapes and travels through the desert between the two worlds, find a tower and destroys it. Then he finds the stone of tears, emerges on the other side to find Zedd and Kalhan. They seal the rift to the underworld and go to chill at the Wizard's Keep.

So i liked this book better than the first one. The first one had a bigger lull in the middle and this one went a little faster. I give it a nine out of ten it wont disappoint

****SPOILERS!**** (For the book this blog is actually about)

So! Finally! The Blood of the fold! this isn't going to have as many spoilers in it

basically Richard has been collecting rules

Wizard's First Rule: People are stupid

Wizard's Second Rule: The greatest harm can result from the best intentions

and in this one he learns Wizard's Third Rule: Passion rules reason from some old dead guys journal that him and a Mord Sith Translate (he claimed the title Lord Rahl and made all of the midlands surrender to him. just in case you're wondering why he's hanging around with some Mord Sith)

Richard screws up then he fixes everything and the book ends

This book is even better than the last (if you can believe that) it was even more fast pace and its getting a perfect rating of ten out of ten. Terry Goodkind I applaud you.

Book 4: The Awakening

Wow. That is the only word that I can think of that properly describes this book. Wow. It picked up right where The Summoning left of and took us on an even better adventure than the first one. The characters grow a lot. In the last book I really disliked Tori and I really like Rae. But they switched parts in this book (even though the reason that they switched was 'the greater good', but as we all know the "The greatest harm can result from the best intentions." (Wizards second rule-Sword of truth series book two Stone of Tears by Terry Goodkind)). The best part of the book was the growing relationship between Derek and Chloe. Since I started working through the series Derek has been my favourite character (quiet and foreboding but kind at the same time) and this book only brings out more of his good qualities (and many of his bad ones). He really reminds me of one of my best friends, Dresden, who is very overprotective and snaps easily but is always looking out for his friends.

Unfortunately I rate this one slightly lower than the first one at an 8 talismans out of 10. The characters are lovely but it's turning into one of those new generic werewolf stories. I mean don't get me wrong its an excellent book but there's only so many ways to write an over build wolf into your story right?

But if you've read the first book defiantly read this one. It wont disappoint in the least.

Book 3:The Summoning

Woah! Two books? One day? Amazing!

The Summoning was probably the best book I've read since the summer. You don't really expect anything that happens (or at least I didn't) which truly makes this book a pleasure to read. Stylistically it's also very very very good. It flows really well and there isn't really any parts that seem to drag on.

I'm trying really had not to give out spoilers in this blog but this book is truly a roller coaster. It changes up fast and without warning and i would seriously reccomend it for whatever you're looking for.

I give it a 9 ruby necklaces out of 10

Book 2: Eternal

To be honest this book was a disappointment to me.

I have a bad habit of buying books based on cover art (I know, I know. Don't judge a book by it's cover. But be honest, we all do. If we didn't they wouldn't put pictures on the covers). When I saw the cover of this book with the wings on it I knew I would have to buy it. I have a thing for angel lore and it`s always been my dream to grow wings (I`m well aware that this is impossible. But I can still dream can`t I?). So I bought it and didn't read the back, which was the cause of my disappointment.

It had all the elements of a good angel story in the first two chapters. A guardian angel, a girl and love. It wasn't until the introduction of vampires (also referred to as 'eternals') that the book took a downward turn for me. I mean don't get me wrong vamps are cool, but i regret the fact that they have taken over the teen fiction section at chapters. There's only so many ways a mortal can fall in love with a vampire and over come all the challenges (one just fyi. every story is the same -.-. I miss the old vamps that were cruel and that high school girls were actually afraid of and didn't worship. One of the oldest nightmares i can remember was of being bit by a vampire and i can almost guarantee you that people wouldn't consider that a nightmare anymore.).

In the end it wasn't a horrible book. I would consider it a guilty pleasure. I've read much better books about vampires and better books about angels (A Madness of Angels by Kate Griffin for example).

I give it a six wings out of ten and would seriously recommend it if you wanted to start getting into lore or where just looking for an easy read.

Book 1: The Lightning Thief

Okay! This is going to be short because I don't feel like writing much. Sorry :(.

So basically my brother Marty LOVES these books and hes been trying to get me to read them for the past ever so we went to see the movie and I was like "this is amazing. LET ME BORROW THE BOOKS NOW" and he did and then i procrastinated at starting The Lightning Thief and now we're here. My Bestie Dresden said they were "too young for me" but I disagree. I thoroughly enjoyed the book. The characters were great, the plot line was interesting and theres not much more I can say about the book.

I give it a 8/10 for sheer enjoyment and the fact that it was easy to read.
You should read it.
No seriously...you should.

First post? yea actually it is

Okay this is my second blog and wont be updated nearly as much as my other one because books take longer to read than it takes to write poems and complain about how shitty everything is.
I guess what I'm going to do is give short reviews on the books I read and hope they aren't really lame and all. also hopefully this will keep me motivated to continue reading because i have about 60 new books in my room that I haven't read yet (can you spell addiction? obviously i can :] )
I'm always open to suggestions so if you ever read a book and want to talk about it just leave me a comment and I'll see what I can do :)
